On a more environmentally-friendly note, my cloth diaper stash is pretty much complete, at least for the time being. George and I decided to cloth diaper because it is more economical, better for the environment, and better for baby. Disposable diapers contain many types of nasty chemicals, including hormone disruptors, that I am not comfortable with my child having constant exposure to. Cloth diapers are not the prefolds and plastic pants that our parents and grand-parents used. They are much cuter, much easier, and much better designed than the cloth of yesterday. I even purchased some cloth diapers that are made out of hemp, unbleached, and organic cotton to make the diapers even better for baby! And even better yet, I sewed my first diaper soaker the other night! I bought some fleece fabric remnants from Joann's, and used a free soaker pattern that I found online!

On a similar note, I have started prepping my first load of cloth diapers. Prepping cloth diapers is required to allow all of the natural oils to come out of the cotton or hemp, so that they can be as absorbent as possible. It can require almost 10 washes for all of the oils to come out, and different materials have to be prepped differently, but in the end it will all be worth it!
